What Is A Jezebel?
A Jezebel, according to Scripture, is more than just a woman with bad behavior — she represents a spirit of rebellion, sexual immorality, manipulation, and idolatry that opposes righteousness and order.
⸻
Historical Jezebel (1 Kings 16–21, 2 Kings 9)
Jezebel was the wife of King Ahab of Israel and a Phoenician princess who:
• Worshipped Baal, a false god
• Persecuted the prophets of YAH
• Encouraged idolatry and sexual immorality
• Used manipulation, seduction, and murder to get her way (e.g., Naboth’s vineyard)
• Was ultimately killed and eaten by dogs as prophesied (2 Kings 9:33–37)
1 Kings 21:25 – “But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.”
⸻
Spiritual Jezebel in Revelation
Revelation 2:20 – “Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.”
This is not the same Jezebel from Kings — she’s long dead. This is a spirit — the Jezebel spirit — found:
• In the church, corrupting doctrine
• In women who manipulate with seduction and rebellion
• In men who enable evil for lust or gain
⸻
Traits of the Jezebel Spirit
• Rebellious and unsubmissive
• Sexually immoral and immodest
• Manipulative and controlling
• Despises holiness, authority, and order
• Blends false spirituality with wickedness
⸻
Modern Jezebel
You can find this spirit in:
• Women who despise righteous headship
• Churches that promote lust, feminism, and paganism
• Entertainment that glorifies vanity, promiscuity, and rebellion
⸻
Righteous Women Are the Opposite
1 Peter 3:3–4 – “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning… but the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible…”
A daughter of Zion should:
• Be modest and discreet
• Be obedient to the laws
• Walk in righteousness, not lust
• Love the Most High more than attention
