How Sources Are Used

Claim-level support

A source should support the specific sentence beside it. A general homepage or database does not prove a narrower historical conclusion by itself.

Primary before secondary

When available, manuscript images, inscriptions, court records, contemporary documents and original datasets are examined before later summaries.

Disagreement is recorded

When translations, dates, identifications or historical estimates differ, the disagreement should be stated rather than hidden.

Access and revision

Links are reviewed periodically. A correction is required when a link no longer supports the statement, a stronger source changes the conclusion, or wording overstates the evidence.

Evidence Labels Used on This Site

Scripture

What the biblical text says in its literary context.

Documented history

Claims supported by historical records or responsible scholarship.

Linguistic / geographic evidence

Israelite interpretation
